Quarantine Process

Acclimation

About Acclimation
Each fish begins with an acclimation period focused on reducing stress, monitoring behavior, and establishing a feeding schedule.
During this stage, an initial bath is performed to support recovery and prepare the fish for upcoming parasite treatment.

Parasite Treatment

About Parasite Treatment
Each fish enters a parasite treatment phase using chelated copper maintained at 2.5ppm for a minimum of 14 days before being transferred to observation.
This kills Cryptocaryon (Marine Ich) & Amyloodinium (Marine Velvet), the two most common marine fish parasites.

Further Treatment

About Further Treatment
Each fish also completes a secondary, multi dose treatment of metronidazole and praziquantel.
These medications address common issues such as Brooklynella (Clownfish Disease), Uronema (Red-Spot Disease), and Monogeans (Flukes).

Observation

About Observation
After completing medicated treatment, each fish enters a 14-day observation period focused on recovery and overall health verification.
This final stage ensures the fish is stable, eating aggressively, and ready for a smooth transition into your tank.

Every order goes through our full quarantine process before shipping. We group incoming orders into batches to maintain strict quarantine adherence.

Orders take a minimum of 5 weeks, typically 6-7 weeks, before delivery. Delivery must be scheduled for a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday to avoid shipping delays.

Once your order is submitted, your quarantine slot and livestock choices are officially reserved. Your choices get added to our upcoming sourcing schedule.

Day 2

Sourcing & Batch Prep
We begin to source your order choices from our suppliers and we are also preparing our facility for a proper quarantine, treatment, and observation cycle.

Day 15

Order Arrives At ReefShield
Your order arrives at our facility and goes through an immediate inspection and acclimation process to reduce stress and prepare for the quarantine process ahead.

Day 16

Quarantine Is Started
Your livestock enters our full 28 day quarantine protocol. A full parasite treatment, secondary treatment, and final observation is started on your order.

Day 43

Quarantine Has Ended
After completing full treatment and observation, only fish showing great feeding behavior and superb health are cleared. We never rush a shipment or take shortcuts.

Packaging & Shipping
Your order is carefully packed for overnight delivery to ensure the safest possible arrival. Be prepared for an email or text message confirming your delivery day.
